Redwood Dojo will be participating in the upcoming Multicultural Faire at Redwood Heights School on Saturday, March 20. Our kids’, teen, and adult classes will be performing at 2 pm, demonstrating kata, weapons, mat work and more. Come watch, get inspired, and support one of Oakland’s finest schools!
Note to members and parents: All students- all levels- are invited to take part in this demo. Kids & parents: you should have received a permission slip, and it must be signed and returned ASAP. Students taking part in the demo must attend all their classes between now and the performance, and attend an extra practice on Thursday, March 18, at 6 pm.
Also on March 20- Rohai Dojo’s annual Kata Tournament. We’re disappointed it conflicts this year with the Multicultural Faire- but some intrepid members will be taking part in both events. The tournament begins at 10 am and most divisions should be wrapped up in time for competitors to make the trip back to Redwood Heights before the demo. If you need registration forms or other info about the tournament, please speak to Sensei Didi, or call Rohai Dojo: 510-526-4880.
Coming in May: IATC! ‘IATC’ stands for ‘International Annual Training Camp’ – the name now used for Cuong Nhu’s annual “campout.” What began as an actual camping/training trip, now takes place on a college campus with a modern gym and dormitory accommodations. Redwood Dojo members should seriously consider attending IATC this year. Please read the previous post for more information.
Coming soon: More test results/rank promotions. We’ve had a lot of testing recently, and there’s more to come next week. Then we’ll post a lot of congratulations and results. Stay tuned.
