I can’t believe school (Oakland Unified) is starting next Monday. Where did the summer go? Now it’s time to get geared up for a new year of scholarly learning, and schedule the right after-school activities for the kids.

Traditional martial art provides not only a fun physical outlet, but also teaches and reinforces the values of self-discipline and perseverance–which in turn can help your children with their schoolwork. Need I say more? Please visit the schedule page to find the right section for your child, based on age and rank–or click on the link in the right-hand column that fits your child’s age group.

Please note: Our August schedule, which is reduced and combines some age groups temporarily, will be in effect through Labor Day Weekend. Sensei Didi will be away for the long weekend; classes on September 2nd and 7th will be taught by the other black belts. New students (age 6 & up) joining in September are invited to attend a free class with Sensei Didi on August 31st at 5 p.m.

Adult Class is also open to new students, and Fall being a traditional time for taking up new pursuits (now that vacations are over and it’s back to the grind), I encourage parents and other adults–all ages–to check us out. Traditional training gives you a form of exercise that’s varied, never boring, challenges you at your own level, and brings self-defense benefits as well. Besides which, you’ll get to meet some interesting new people. Follow this link for more information, and set up a date to try a free class with no obligation.

Just for fun, I’m going to re-run our Adult Class survey here. Let us know what you think!
